One of the most effective ways to limit the access to your site is to block the IP addresses of individuals which should not be able to open it. There are numerous reasons why you should do this. For example, you may want a particular individual not to be able to see your website, or you can restrict the access for an entire country. You could also block IP addresses in case you detect that there are too many Internet browser requests from them, if many spam comments are left within your sites or if a script login page has been loaded a large number of times. In all of these cases, the traffic is most likely fake and has been generated by an automatic bot, so you may safely block any questionable IP address, to be on the safe side. In this way, you'll also avoid the possibility of your web server getting overloaded by way too many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Shared Website Hosting

Our shared website hosting include an IP blocking tool, so if you'd like to limit the access to your websites, you'll be able to do this with just a few clicks. The tool is part of the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts and which is very easy to use. Once you log in and go to the IP blocking section, you'll just have to choose a domain or a subdomain hosted inside the account and input the IP address that needs to be blocked. Our system allows you to block whole networks also, so if you input 123.123.123., for example, this will block all IP addresses between 123.123.123.1 and 123.123.123.255 from accessing your websites. If you would like to whitelist an IP at some point, you could unblock it with a mouse click from the same section.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our semi-dedicated servers, will allow you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very quickly and easily. It comes with an IP blocking tool in which you can add IP addresses with a few mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains that you have within the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just have to select the one you need and then type the IP address which needs to be blocked. If you want to block a whole range, a C-class network for example, you just have to type in the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you shall not need to type in them manually. Because all the IPs that you add in this section will be listed, you can quickly unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the particular IP.
